Maintaining a Range
The Dave House South continued to stay around 70 oF, while the Andy Shack varies from 60 oF to nearly 80 oF (with nearly that large a swing during the night of the 26th). This graph shows, yet again, the importance of a large time constant in maintaining comfortable conditions. Besides that, this graph is also a good example of how sol-air is more important than ambient temperature in the performance of the system. Even though the ambient temperature drops from the 28th to the 29th, both buildings increase in temperature because the sol-air temperature is higher on the 29th. The ambient temperature does matter since it determines the heat loss of the buildings, but the increase in sol-air temperature is still enough to overcome the extra loss on the 29th and add heat to both systems.
