Dave House South Begins Heating
At 4:30 PM, on the 29th of December, the Dave House South was connected to three Energie Solaire absorber panels and began thermosiphoning. Each panel measures 93”x33-3/4” (or 21.8 ft2) and they are mounted flush with the South-facing wall. It took three days to approach the temperatures of the Andy Shack and reaches 60 oF before it begins to level off. However, only intermittent sun was available and so the building will reach higher temperatures once ample sun is available. The Dave House North is still relying on solar gain and thermal mass to maintain an above ambient temperature and serves as a measure of what the Dave House South would probably be like without the absorber panels supplying heat to the thermal mass. The dip in the Dave House South temperature on the 2nd of January is due to ventilation while cleaning in the afternoon.
