Hottest Building Temperature
The night between July 3rd and July 4th (the second dip in the ambient temperature) had an unusually high sol-air temperature. Because the sol-air temperature was so high, neither of the buildings had an opportunity to dump much of the heat they received during the day. Since the difference between the radiator temperatures and the sol-air temperature determines how much heat the system can dump per square foot, a smaller difference means lower heat loss. The North building was more affected by the unfavorable cooling night than the Andy shack because of the difference in the ratio of radiator to floor area. The Andy shackâs radiator was better able to compensate for the lower heat loss because it has an oversized amount of radiators on the roof. However, on July 4th, both Double Play buildings reached their highest temperatures because of the heat still in the system from the previous day.
